I first tasted a Lemon Bud sitting beside my mother during chemotherapy. Everything else irritated her;  her mouth, her stomach, the long difficult hours of treatment. The Lemon Bud dissolved slowly, cool and clean and gentle. It did not fight her. It simply gave her a moment of relief and comfort.

That is the warm sun that hits your lemonade stand in the afternoon, the brightness with warmth soaked right in, a hint of tart that never takes over. We kept a supply. In the small quiet rituals of a hard season, the Lemon Buds were there.

That is why I bought this company when the factory went dark. That is why these candies are still made exactly as they were in 1924. Natural lemon, real cane sugar, no shortcuts, no substitutes. The Lemon Bud is not a lemon dessert.  It is lemon - bright, clean, true to the fruit.

Are the Candies Hard or Chewy?

Hard, we don’t recommend biting into them. It’s old-fashioned handmade hard candy, we have been making it the same way for 100 years.

How should I store the candy after it’s opened?

Humidity is the enemy. Keep Candy in an airtight container, and away from extreme temperatures.

Is your candy Gluten-free?

Yes! All our candy is Gluten-free.

Do you offer Sugar-free Candy?

Not currently, but we are in the process of developing it! Join our mailing list to be the first to know when it’s available.

Is your candy Vegan?

Yes!

Why is there coconut in all your candy?

We use coconut to grease the tables, so it doesn’t stick when folding the candy by hand and keeps our candy vegan.  There are also tiny pieces of coconut in the middle of the candy.  It’s a 100-year-old family recipe. Our candy does not have a strong coconut taste.

How much is shipping?

Orders over $45 ship free, all other orders are a flat rate of $9.99.  We are a small family business and hope to find better shipping options in the future.

How long does it take to ship?

We are a small family business and only ship Monday – Friday. We are based in Nashville, NC.  Shipping to the West Coast can take between 5-10 business days.  Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska can take at least 15 business days.

Why are the candies different sizes and colors?

We make all our candy by hand. Color, shape, and size can vary.

Where can we find your candy in stores?

We’re mainly in boutiques, not large retailers outside of Fresh Market.

Is your candy sour?

We don’t currently offer sour candy.
