Since 1924, Butterfields has crafted our hard candies using time-honored techniques and the finest ingredients. Each batch of our Butterfields Buds is carefully cooked, pulled, and shaped by hand – just as it was generations ago. THE ARCHITECTURAL INSPIRATION

Our Muscadine Buds package features a classic Eastern North Carolina vineyard estate, showcasing the region's agricultural heritage and the natural beauty that makes this area ideal for grape cultivation. 

Our Charleston Peach package features one of the city's classic single houses, an architectural style unique to this coastal gem. Notice the distinctive side piazza (porch) designed to catch cool sea breezes, the elegant columns, and decorative ironwork that have made Charleston's historic district one of the most beloved in America.

Our Peach Buds package features a classic Athens, Georgia mansion, showcasing the region's distinctive neoclassical architecture with its elegant columns, formal gardens, and gracious proportions. Notice the beautiful fountain, manicured landscaping, and sweeping approach – all elements that speak to the refined Southern aesthetic that makes Athens one of Georgia's most architecturally significant cities.

Our Lemon Buds package features a classic French Quarter townhouse, showcasing the distinctive architectural style that makes New Orleans instantly recognizable. Notice the ornate wrought iron balconies, tall windows, and graceful proportions that blend French, Spanish, and Caribbean influences into something uniquely New Orleans.

Our beautiful Key Lime packaging features a classic Key West colonial reminiscent of Hemingway's residence, complete with the distinctive dual-level verandas where his beloved six-toed cats once roamed. Like the Florida island's literary heritage, our candy – made the same way for over 100 years – brings a taste of sunshine and story to your palate in every bite.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Candies Hard or Chewy?

Hard, we don’t recommend biting into them. It’s old-fashioned handmade hard candy, we have been making it the same way for 100 years.

How should I store the candy after it’s opened?

Humidity is the enemy. Keep Candy in an airtight container, and away from extreme temperatures.

Is your candy Gluten-free?

Yes! All our candy is Gluten-free.

Do you offer Sugar-free Candy?

Not currently, but we are in the process of developing it! Join our mailing list to be the first to know when it’s available.

Is your candy Vegan?

Yes!

Why is there coconut in all your candy?

We use coconut to grease the tables, so it doesn’t stick when folding the candy by hand and keeps our candy vegan.  There are also tiny pieces of coconut in the middle of the candy.  It’s a 100-year-old family recipe. Our candy does not have a strong coconut taste.

How much is shipping?

Orders over $45 ship free, all other orders are a flat rate of $9.99.  We are a small family business and hope to find better shipping options in the future.

How long does it take to ship?

We are a small family business and only ship Monday – Friday. We are based in Nashville, NC.  Shipping to the West Coast can take between 5-10 business days.  Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska can take at least 15 business days.

Why are the candies different sizes and colors?

We make all our candy by hand. Color, shape, and size can vary. 

Do you offer wholesale?

Where can we find your candy in stores?

We’re mainly in boutiques, not large retailers outside of Fresh Market.

Is your candy sour?

We don’t currently offer sour candy.
