The Lost Art of Candy Making by Hand

Butterfield’s Candy Company has been making hard candies since 1924. For over 97 years, the traditional, die hard, classic way with nostalgic memories of how it all started. Breathing new life into a proven product – one that has withstood the test of time.

Each batch of our candies are hand-turned to cool then hand-cut into “buds” in the same tradition used for over 97 years. A candy with unmatched flavor & texture, leaving you with the impression of enjoying a fresh, juicy piece of fruit right off the tree. Our candies are handcrafted in copper kettles. Made in the U.S.A. and family owned and operated. Read more about our story through the photos below…

  1. In workjing on a family reunion, we decided to find all products made in North Carolina. I live in Rocky Mount and knew the Peach Buds were made in Nashville. However I found it very difficult to find them in the stores. I finally, only by accident, found small boxes at the Farmers Market in Raleigh. Hope to see more locally.
